The Stanford Cardinal will devote the week of the season in the home of their Pac-12 rivals. The Cardinal notched a 17-7 victory over Northwestern in their season opener but they did not escape unscathed as Stanford quarterback K.J. Costello took a forearm to the chin soon before the half causing him to leave the match, while blindside undertake Walker”Not So” Small sustained a dislocated knee and is out for the foreseeable future. Left guard Dylan Powell is not anticipated to move this week after he had been injured in Week 1. This leaves a offensive line, potentially without their starting QB, and it is a major setback to a Cardinal group.
USC won their season opener on Fresno State at the score of 31-23 but that wasn’t quite enough to pay the 13 1/2 stage impost who endorsed the Trojans. It may have been a victory as USC quarterback JT Daniels has been missing for the season after suffering a torn ACL into his knee. This will necessitate an alteration in signal-callers following heading 6-of-8 for 57 yards last week after taking over for Daniels, passing, with freshman Kedon Slovis slated to take the reins.
The last time the teams met the Cardinal seized a victory as 4 1/2 point home favorites in September of 2018. Prior to this, USC had won both contests the preceding time and have the luxury of home-field benefit between two groups which are quite equal in talent. However, the wildcards are the quarterbacks with many rolling the dice on Stanford, assuming that Costello is going to be back in the saddle to get this summit clash.
But I’m siding with the Trojans based on the fact that they are better equipped to put points on the board due to an offensive line that is complete, unlike Stanford’s where two starting linemen on the side of this ball will likely be sidelined. We are also getting worth to where they sit as a one-point house favorite here as the school football odds opened.
I am not anticipating any aerial heroics from either side with both trainers appearing to grind this one out using their individual rushing attacks. Reports on the USC freshman quarterback show that the kid can handle the strain and the Trojans will continue to pound the ball and will be strong in the aid of the injured starter JT Daniels. Back up the Trojans and money a ticket on Saturday!
