New Jersey Celebrates NFL Kickoff With A Sweet 16 Of Sports Betting Apps

With NFL betting set to kick off today, there’s no shortage of choices when it comes to where to take your football action in New Jersey this year.

In fact, with two new NJ online sportsbooks launching, bringing the number of NJ sports betting apps to 16, it’s now possible to bet every single Week 1 game at a different book.

The two new apps include theScore Bet and Bet365 NJ. Both feature iOS and Android apps, but only Bet365 has a web-based sportsbook.

TheScore Bet wrapped up it’s testing period and went live across NJ on Sept. 3.

TheScore is actually a Canadian sports media company. It operates on a variety of popular digital platforms. Plus, it once ran The Score TV network before selling that to Canadian TV and internet giant Rogers Communications.

The company now claims to be the first media company in North America to create and operate a mobile sportsbook in the US.

Although Fox Sports and The Stars Group may disagree, those two just rebranded and relaunched BetStars as the new Fox Bet Sportsbook days earlier.

TheScore integrated media and betting apps

TheScore founder John Levy is calling theScore Bet app “unique and groundbreaking” in that it is “seamlessly integrated” with theScore’s popular digital media app.

“Millions of sports fans all over North America were already using theScore, with many relying on our data and content to help inform their betting decisions. Now, starting with fans in New Jersey, we’ll be able to bring the bet right to them.”

TheScore sportsbook will operate under the Monmouth Park sports betting license. It joins the William Hill NJ and PlaySugarHouse apps there. Bet.Works provides its sports betting platform.

Levy claims seamless integration. However, users who have an account with theScore’s media app must still create a new login for theScore Bet app. Then, they can link the two together.

Here’s how the connection works according to theScore:

TheScore Bet app offers a wide variety of pregame and in-game markets and betting options. Plus, it promises “lightning-fast” scores and in-game data.

The app’s media connections are almost unparalleled. A users’ favorites from theScore sports media app sync up automatically to offer personalized betting options. Plus, all bets can be tracked in real-time.

But New Jersey is just the beginning. TheScore recently inked a deal with Penn National Gaming giving it market access across 11 more states.

Bet365 NJ enters from across the pond

Bet365 NJ began its testing phase at the end of August. It got NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement approval on Aug. 30.

Bet365 NJ brings one of Europe’s most popular sports betting operators across the pond. Plus, the Bet365 NJ online casino comes attached to the website at least, allowing users to play a wide variety of casino games with a shared wallet.

Unfortunately, the sportsbook app does not come with a casino link. However, a separate casino app is available, and users can still share a wallet between the two.

Bet365 NJ runs under the Hard Rock Atlantic City license alongside Hard Rock’s self-branded Gaming Innovation Group sportsbook.

If you were expecting something unique to the US market, you would be mistaken. Bet365 NJ showcases a similar sports betting experience to the one European users enjoy, including the familiar green-and-dark-gray theme.

That means customizable views, a variety of language choices, and live game updates.

And speaking of live updates: Bet365 NJ is also staying ahead of the curve on the media side of things, too, offering live-streams of “over 140,000 live events each year” via the app.

Some 80% of that handle came via mobile. With both Bet365 and theScore Bet launching iOS and Android apps, that number isn’t likely to go anywhere but up.
